Andrzej Kowalik
Born in Lublin on October 30th, 1953. He took his first steps in the artistic world when he was a primary school pupil, where he sang in a choir with Krzesimir Debski. His fascination with rhythm and blues and rock music grew through a friendship with Krzysztof Cugowski (Budka Suflera), who lived in the same neighbourhood.
At the end of his secondary school eduction, Andrzej Kowalik worked with Radio Lublin in the production of broadcasts. He also worked as a dj.
In 1972, he began his studies in Transport Economics at Gdansk University in Sopot. At the same time, he held the position of editor-in-chief of the Student Radio.
In 1973-1975, he cooperated with Student Radio Agency in Gdansk and Radio Gdansk.
From 1976 to 1979 he managed “Wysepka” Student Club, which was voted the best Polish student club of the year in 1978. From 1978 to 1981 he was the head of The University of Gdansk student clubs.
In 1982 Andrzej Kowalik was the director of the Pan Polish Artistic Workshops in Lazy, where Zenon Laskowik was the artisic director and a number well-known artists began their careers (among others: Adriana Biedrzynska, Zbigniew Zamachowski, Cezary Pazura, Piotr Polk, Wojtek Malajkat). During that time Mr Kowalik was also the manager of the Polish DJ school.
In 1982, he founded the Academic Culture Centre of Gdansk University and became its first director.
In 1988, he took the chair of reactivated cabaret TEY (Laskowik, Rewinski, Smolen, Schuberth, Jaslar, Golebiewski, Gorny)
From 1985 to 1997, he was the managing and artistic director of the Baltic Artistic Agency BART in Sopot and served as the director of the international Sopot Song Festival five times.
Between 1995-1997, Andrzej Kowalik managed (with Rudi Schuberth) CR PROMOTION promotional company.
From 1994 to 2000, held the position of director of the Polish Bandstand branch in Sopot.
In 1997, he set up ART Andrzej Kowalik event agency.
